IAFF Legislative Conference
March 10 - March 13
The changing environment in Washington DC, makes the work of constituent advocates more important than ever. At the Alfred K. Whitehead Legislative Conference, we will guide you through the challenges and opportunities on Capitol Hill and in the White House. You will learn more about the current political landscape and its impact on programs and policies that affect fire fighters.
Additionally, you will learn about IAFF priority legislation and have the opportunity to advocate directly with legislators on key federal issues, including legislation impacting your jobs, health and safety and economic security.
The Alfred K. Whitehead Legislative Conference has long been the cornerstone of the IAFF’s legislative efforts. The IAFF has won many significant victories over the years – from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program that promotes safe fire ground staffing, to ensuring the first responders of 9/11 receive the health care they deserve, to defeating legislation designed to undermine our members’ defined benefit pensions – due in large measure to the work of local IAFF leaders at this Conference.
